(Preah Vihear): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen stated he owes Thailand nothing. Instead, it is Thailand that owes him for sheltering the Thaksin family after they fled following the coup that ousted them from power.
Samdech Techo spoke on Thursday (Jun. 26) during his meeting with citizens who had fled from the tense Cambodia–Thailand border areas in Preah Vihear province.
"You have to understand that Cambodia is not ignorant. We are fully aware of your political affairs. Tomorrow, I will explain everything. Even when you planned to remove Anutin Charnvirakul, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, you informed me. If you can betray your own people, would you not also betray me? Of course, you would dare to.” Samdech Techo underscored,
“I warned you. If you remove him, be careful. He might turn on you. Just wait and see the consequences,” Samdech Techo said. “If you act recklessly, I’m ready to reveal everything you told me, including your insults toward your own king.”
He added, “And as for your daughter, discipline her. You have a child who is prime minister, and so do I. But don’t mistake Hun Sen for someone else. I owe Thailand nothing. State matters are separate, but personally, I owe no one. In fact, your group owes me. I’m not bound by gratitude, but I do seek equal, respectful relations: no invasions, no interference, nothing more.”
At the same time, Samdech Techo announced that once his statement aired, he would wait for Bangkok’s response. If necessary, he said, he could spend four to five hours disclosing sensitive information about the Thai prime minister, including derogatory remarks made about the Thai king. He also revealed that the Thaksin family had once stayed in his home and shared many personal conversations with him.
It has been reported that former Thai Prime Ministers Thaksin Shinawatra and Yingluck Shinawatra stayed at Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s residence after the 2006 and 2014 coups that ousted them from power.
