(Preah Vihear): Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen affirmed that his intention remains for Cambodia to maintain good relations with Thailand and to resolve border disputes with the neighbouring country through peaceful means. He envisions transforming the border into one of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
Samdech Techo spoke on Friday (Jun. 27) during a meeting with members of the provincial, city, district, commune, and sangkat councils in Preah Vihear province.
“I want to reiterate that I still seek a friendly relationship with Thailand. I remain committed to achieving my two main goals. First, to transform former battle zones into areas of development. Second, to turn borders with neighbouring countries into zones of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development,” Samdech Techo underscored.
Cambodia is fully prepared to engage in normal diplomatic relations with Thailand, expressing a preference for peaceful resolutions, whether through bilateral mechanisms or through international legal frameworks.
Moreover, Cambodia has never regarded Thailand as an enemy. However, if any party considers Cambodia an enemy, then that party will also be viewed as an enemy by Cambodia.
Nonetheless, Samdech Techo expressed optimism that the majority of Thai people do not see Cambodia as an enemy, likewise, the Cambodian people do not consider Thailand an enemy.
