(Preah Vihear): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Cambodian Senate President, revealed that on 1 July 2025, Thailand’s Constitutional Court is set to examine the potential suspension of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra from office.
Meanwhile, her father, former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, is also expected to stand trial next week over lèse majesté charge.
Samdech Techo spoke on Friday (Jun. 27) during a meeting with members of the provincial, city, district, commune, and sangkat councils in Preah Vihear province.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo remarked that Cambodia is prepared to resume normalized relations with Thailand, but this may not be feasible under the current Thai leadership.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated: “I’ve heard that on July 1, Thailand’s Constitutional Court will examine the issue of the prime minister’s possible suspension. That is an internal matter for Thailand.”
He also sent a clear message to Thai authorities that this is the era of Techo-Thipadei leadership, therefore threats against Cambodia will no longer work.
