(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have played and continued to play a vital role in production, supply, and service delivery, while actively striving to adapt to emerging trends, particularly shifts in market demands, environmental standards, and the rapid pace of technological advancement.

The premier spoke on Friday (Jun. 27) during the meeting with members of Cambodia’s micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) community, held in celebration of the National MSME Day in Phnom Penh.

He further noted that Cambodia continues to attract high levels of foreign direct investment (FDI), with industrial growth forecast to lead at around 7.8% in 2025. This trend presents new opportunities for MSMEs to support economic diversification and integrate into regional and global supply chains, where there is a growing demand for local inputs and value-added products.

“MSMEs have played and continue to play a crucial role in production, supply, and service delivery, while working hard to evolve in response to new trends,” the premier underscored.

Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed the Royal Government's continued commitment under its seventh mandate to further these efforts through the implementation of existing policies, the creation of new support mechanisms, and the introduction of additional incentives. These include six strategic policy priorities and the National Strategy for the Development of the Informal Economy, all designed to enhance resilience, productivity, and sustainability. The strategy promotes integration into the formal economy, supports sustainable livelihoods, and fosters business growth and job creation.

The premier added that the government is also intensifying efforts to diversify markets both regionally and globally, by promoting the transformation of MSMEs into productive value chains that generate high added value and act as catalysts for responsive, modern industries.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei emphasised that the Royal Government of Cambodia, under its seventh mandate, has prioritised the development of MSMEs. Ministries, institutions, and the private sector, including financial institutions have implemented concrete mechanisms to improve the business environment and provide direct support to domestic enterprises. The country’s digital transformation has facilitated business registration, tax registration, licence applications, and operations that reducing both time and cost.
