(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), urged all Cambodians to stand united with the Royal Government, stay engaged, and fully support the armed forces to strengthen national defence further.
Samdech Techo spoke at the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the founding of the CPP, held on Saturday morning (Jun. 28) at the CPP headquarters.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen emphasized that Cambodia greatly values peace, friendship, cooperation, and development. He reaffirmed that Cambodia does not adopt hostile policies or attitudes toward any nation.
Samdech Techo stated: “On this point, I wish to stress that the unlawful attack carried out by Thai forces against Cambodian troops on May 28, in the Emerald Triangle area inside Cambodian territory, represents a serious violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This incident reflects the recurring pains of history despite our sincere willingness to resolve issues peacefully.”
“In response to this situation, the Cambodian People’s Party fully supports the firm and clear position of the Royal Government in bringing the issues related to Ta Moan Thom Temple, Ta Moan Tauch Temple, Ta Krabei Temple, and the Emerald Triangle area before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). We also support the government’s stance in resolving other remaining border issues beyond these four locations through peaceful negotiations, based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries in 2000,” he added.
He added that Cambodia had lost significant portions of its territory in the past due to foreign occupation, and now it is imperative to protect the current territorial integrity steadfastly so that not even a small part is lost again.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo underlined, “I call on all compatriots to stand united with the Royal Government, remain engaged, and offer steadfast support to our armed forces to further strengthen national defence. I also take this opportunity to express deep respect for the heroism of our military and police forces, who are tirelessly fulfilling their duties to defend our territorial integrity along the border with neighbouring countries with the utmost sacrifice and unwavering commitment.”
