(Takeo): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that Cambodian citizens have clearly understood the Royal Government’s policy approach during times of national hardship, affirming that the Royal Government can achieve self-reliance without depending on neighbouring countries.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Jul. 1) during the National Fish Day celebration and the release of approximately 1.5 million fish into Tonle Sap Lake, held in Bati district, Takeo province.
“This occasion, National Fish Day, is not only to food security, but it also symbolises Cambodia’s ability to uphold sovereignty and respond to the needs of its citizens, especially in difficult times such as during COVID19 and the current situation. Beyond these challenges, Cambodia’s strength has truly emerged,” the premier underscored.
According to Samdech Thipadei, the Cambodian people have increased their trust in the Royal Government through the challenges the country has faced. Most notably, they have come to understand the Royal Government's intention to attract investment from both public and private sectors and other development partners in order to enhance Cambodia’s capacity in managing water, electricity, internet access, and market expansion.
In this context, Samdech Thipadei expressed joy at seeing Cambodians both inside the country, demonstrating strong patriotism and unity, which reflects the resilience of the nation. He also thanked the people for their enthusiastic spirit in defending national interests.
Samdech Thipadei thanked the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training for its attention to Cambodian workers returning from Thailand and for providing timely employment opportunities.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet also thanked the Ministry of Interior, the General Department of Immigration, and all relevant authorities, especially those in border provinces including Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Pailin, and Oddar Meanchey for facilitating the return and reintegration of citizens through villages and districts.
