(Takeo): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed deep gratitude to all armed forces for their tireless dedication and sacrifices for the sake of the nation and the Cambodian people.
Samdech Thipadei also extended his heartfelt thanks to all Cambodian citizens who have shown overwhelming patriotic spirit in support of national interests.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Jul. 1) during the National Fish Day celebration and the release of approximately 1.5 million fish into Tonle Sap Lake, held in Bati district, Takeo province.
“I am sincerely grateful to all Cambodian citizens. On 18 (June), so many youths turned out to express support for the Royal Government and our frontline troops. I truly thank you. Cambodians, both inside and outside the country, came together in great unity to express strong moral support for our armed forces and the government in preparing to safeguard our territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national dignity. I am truly thankful,” the premier underscored.
Samdech Thipadei added that this collective show of unity demonstrates a powerful national spirit. He once again thanked the armed forces for their round-the-clock vigilance, especially in the three regions, such as Region 3: Koh Kong, Pursat, Battambang; Region 5: Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey; and Region 4: Preah Vihear and its connection to Banteay Meanchey.
Samdech Thipadei praised both military and national police forces for their heightened preparedness to protect Cambodia’s territorial integrity.
“Certainly, Cambodia does not wish for war. But we also cannot allow any violations of our sovereignty,” the premier continued.
On the occasion, the prime minister also extended thanks to the people across the country who have provided various forms of support, whether financial contributions, food supplies, moral encouragement, or social media campaigns to uplift the spirits of the troops. He also noted the composition of motivational songs dedicated to the armed forces, and expressed appreciation to military families, even displaced people in Preah Vihear province, many of whom are relatives of soldiers for their sacrifices and strong participation in national unity. “Especially when there is a threat to our national honour and territorial integrity, we Khmer always stand together,” Samdech Thipadei declared.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet concluded by emphasising that Cambodia desires peace, having suffered decades of war in the past, but firmly stated that the country will not accept being belittled or humiliated.
