(Phnom Penh): Cambodia and Singapore prime ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening and expanding their bilateral cooperation.

This joint commitment was made during a bilateral meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong on Wednesday (Jul. 2) at the Peace Palace.

Samdech Thipadei expressed his great pleasure in this bilateral meeting. He also extended his warmest congratulations once again to his Singaporean counterpart and the People’s Action Party for their recent election victory, which reflects the confidence and trust of the Singaporean citizens in his leadership.

For his part, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong expressed his deep gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for the warm and cordial welcome extended to him and his delegation. He noted that his visit to Cambodia coincides with the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Cambodia-Singapore diplomatic relations, which reflects the long-standing and strong partnership they have enjoyed and will continue to strengthen in the future.

Both leaders praised the enduring, productive, and close relations between Cambodia and Singapore. They expressed appreciation for the various commemorative events marking 60 years of diplomatic ties and acknowledged the significant achievements resulting from bilateral cooperation across all sectors and levels. They reiterated their commitment to deepening and broadening this close collaboration.

In terms of bilateral cooperation, the two leaders discussed and agreed to enhance partnerships in several key areas, including trade, investment and finance, people-to-people connectivity, defence and security, agriculture, food and energy security, and vocational and technical training.

At the multilateral level, both sides also exchanged views on regional and international cooperation frameworks, with the shared aim of promoting the interests of both nations and their peoples.
