(Kampong Thom): Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia and Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), expressed strong confidence that the people's vote for the CPP was not a matter of chance. Instead, he stated, it was a conscious decision rooted in the belief that during difficult times, the CPP is the only force that steps up to resolve national crises, such as during the COVID19 pandemic and in addressing economic hardships.

Samdech Thipadei spoke on Thursday (Jul. 3) during a groundbreaking ceremony of the Cambodian People's Party headquarters in Kampong Thom province.

He pointed out that, unlike some countries where post-election turmoil leads to political and economic instability, including multiple leadership changes, Cambodia has maintained stability. This, he said, is due to the people's continued trust in the CPP and particularly in the presence of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Party President, whose leadership brings warmth and reassurance to the populace.

“I firmly believe that the people's support for the CPP was not accidental,” Prime Minister Hun Manet stated. “It wasn’t because of coercion or threats. No one forced them at gunpoint. It was a deliberate choice. The people know that in times of hardship, there is no one else who will come forward to help except the CPP. During the COVID19 outbreak, it was the CPP that stepped in to coordinate, provide medicine, and resolve economic challenges.”

He went on to affirm that the government under CPP leadership has laid out clear policies to govern the country and will continue to serve the nation and its people under all circumstances. “We will never abandon the people,” he stressed.

He also emphasized that when Cambodian citizens face difficulties, CPP officials respond without discrimination as they step up to assist and solve problems on the spot. Reflecting on the 2023 election, he noted that even some citizens who had previously voted for other parties changed their vote to the CPP, because they witnessed the party’s direct action during times of crisis.

“They saw that during hard times, Samdech Techo led from the front, never fleeing abroad, unlike the so-called ‘patriots from overseas’ who only profess their love for the country from afar. Even when falsely accused of bringing in vaccines to harm the people, Samdech Techo remained resolute,” Hun Manet added.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also revealed that Samdech Techo Hun Sen was the first person to receive the COVID19 vaccine in Cambodia, and that the vaccine was not a trial dose. “If our leader had hesitated to use the Chinese vaccine at that time, waiting instead for WHO approval, many Cambodians would have died.”

Prime Minister Hun Manet concluded by affirming that the Cambodian People’s Party will never do anything to harm national interests. All party policies are intended to protect and support the nation and its people.
