(Kampong Thom): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed strong confidence that the Cambodian people value real, on-the-ground achievements, particularly those made by the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), and will not be swayed by populist political propaganda.
Samdech Thipadei spoke on Thursday (Jul. 3) during a groundbreaking ceremony of the Cambodian People's Party headquarters in Kampong Thom province.
While expressing trust in the people, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also acknowledged that shortcomings may arise in the implementation of certain initiatives. However, he emphasized that millions of citizens have benefited from concrete and verifiable results, not empty promises or illusions. These accomplishments, he said, stem not from chance but from the CPP’s clear and actionable policies.
“I continue to believe that our people, despite daily political messaging and online discourse, including Facebook, will ultimately judge based on what they see and experience in real life,” Samdech Thipadei said. “They will value tangible results. This is why I believe the CPP continues to earn the people’s trust. We continue to deliver vital services and important achievements not only through government institutions, but also through grassroots working groups and party mechanisms at every level.”
He added: “Our members, our youth, and our grassroots activists strive to serve the people based on the party’s principles. That’s why I am 100% confident that the people will continue to support us. We're not perfect, but we strive for excellence. What does that mean? We acknowledge mistakes and work to correct them, always striving to increase positive impact. That is the CPP’s direction. We recognize our shortcomings. We acknowledge what we haven’t yet resolved. And we keep working.”
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also noted that while some parties choose to sit outside and criticize, claiming perfection, the CPP does not deny its flaws. “What’s important is that we accept criticism, resolve issues, and explain them to the people.”
He stressed that while shortcomings may exist, what matters most is acknowledging them and being committed to addressing and overcoming them. “If we fail to recognize our weaknesses or believe we are already flawless, that is the moment we begin to collapse,” he concluded.
