(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts issued a press statement firmly rejecting the recent claim made by Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Minister of Culture of the Kingdom of Thailand, on 4 July 2025. Paetongtarn claimed that the Ta Moan temple complex is under Thailand’s sovereign jurisdiction and announced its registration as an ancient monument in the Buddhist year 2505 (1962).

In a press release dated 4 July 2025, Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts firmly rejected Thailand’s claim over the Ta Moan temple complex, stating it has no legal merit. The Ministry emphasized that the claim is based on a unilaterally drawn map and contradicts the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which both countries agreed to rely on the 1:200,000 scale map in line with the 1904 and 1907 Franco-Siamese Treaties, which remain fully in effect.
