(Kampong Speu): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged all institutions and relevant stakeholders in the education sector to expand training and education in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), with particular emphasis on digital technology.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Jul. 8) at an inauguration of educational achievements in Kampong Speu province.

“I urge all ministries and institutions, authorities at all levels, the private sector, civil society, and both national and international organisations to strengthen their collaboration with the Royal Government in developing Cambodia’s human resources. This must be achieved by expanding education and training in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, particularly in digital technology for Cambodian students. These efforts must go hand-in-hand with the reinforcement of personal ethics to improve the quality of life and well-being of individuals, families, and the Cambodian people as a whole,” the premier underscored.

In his address, Samdech Thipadei also encouraged teachers to continue promoting hygiene in schools through the implementation of both responsive and preventive measures. He highlighted the need to enhance student health and food safety education, while also improving health-related infrastructure, such as standardised health rooms, green school environments, and clean, waste-free campuses.

Furthermore, the premier underlined the importance of addressing students’ mental health and overall well-being by integrating mental health and wellness education into school curricula.
