(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Nicolas Notebaert, Chief Executive Officer of Concessions at VINCI and President of VINCI Airports, on Thursday (Jul. 10) at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, Notebaert expressed his sincere gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for allowing him and his delegation to pay a courtesy call. He also thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for maintaining peace, stability, and steady development across all sectors that prerequisites vital for sustaining private sector investment and the continued success of VINCI Airports in Cambodia.

Notebaert highlighted the remarkable increase in air passenger numbers, which have grown approximately forty-fold since 1995. He also provided an overview of the company’s current operations and its preparations for the upcoming launch of Techo International Airport. In addition to the aviation sector, he expressed VINCI’s interest in investing in other key areas such as clean energy and clean water.

He emphasised that such investments would contribute to Cambodia’s socioeconomic development through the win-win partnership between the Royal Government and the private sector.

In response, Samdech Thipadei expressed his pleasure and highly valued the success of VINCI Airports' business in Cambodia, which has significantly contributed to boosting national economic growth and increasing international tourists to Cambodia. He also congratulated the 30th anniversary of the partnership between VINCI and Cambodia (1995-2025).

The prime minister outlined the Royal Government of Cambodia’s key policies and strategies aimed at attracting foreign investment. In the aviation sector, the Government has adopted an Open Sky Policy to strengthen air connectivity with countries across the globe.

Currently, Cambodia has direct flights to numerous destinations, and efforts are underway to expand these connections in line with the growing number of domestic and international tourists. Notably, Cambodia has signed a direct flight agreement with countries such as India and is working to develop further routes to the Middle East. This expansion of direct flights will reduce travel costs and time, while attracting more business travellers and tourists to the country.

Regarding the company’s intention to expand its investments, the premier encouraged continued collaboration with the relevant ministries and institutions. Samdech Thipadei affirmed that the Royal Government of Cambodia remains ready to provide support and prioritise the success of VINCI’s investments in Cambodia.
