(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen received a courtesy call by Fahd Al Dosari, Head of Communications and Special Advisor to Sheikh Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, along with a delegation from Qatar's AI Mansour Asia Company, on Tuesday (Jul. 22) at the Senate.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed the presence of the AI Mansour Asia delegation on their visit to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia. Samdech highlighted the fruitful outcomes of his previous visit to the Middle East, particularly his meetings with the Speaker of the Parliament, Prime Minister, and various leaders of Qatar, aimed at promoting economic cooperation between the two countries across potential sectors.
On this occasion, Fahd Al Dosari thanked Samdech Techo for allowing him and his delegation to pay courtesy call. Representing the Qatari royal family and AI Mansour Asia, Al Dosari conveyed his pleasure in strengthening bilateral ties, especially in boosting investments in both public and private sectors. He noted that AI Mansour Asia has prioritised investment in Southeast Asia, starting with Cambodia, where Mr. Jay Han serves as the company's Country CEO.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed Al Dosari’s remarks and recommended that the company explore investment potential in food processing and agricultural raw materials. He pointed out the timely opportunity for rice processing, as Cambodia is a surplus rice producer while Qatar is an importer. Through rice collection, storage, and milling operations, Cambodia and Qatar could jointly expand food supply to other food-insecure countries in the Middle East.
Samdech Techo also emphasised the potential of Cambodia's cashew sector, noting that the country currently leads the world in cashew nut production, having already exported approximately 600,000 tons in the first half of 2025. Based on this figure, he projected Cambodia’s cashew exports to reach around 1 million tons this year and described this as a prime moment for the company to invest in cashew processing plants. He further noted the untapped potential of Cambodia’s cassava and rubber sectors, which remain under-processed, as well as the available market space within the country and region for companies to explore investment opportunities.
Fahd Al Dosari expressed appreciation for Samdech Techo’s guidance and affirmed strong interest in agriculture, manufacturing, and infrastructure projects that support tourism, including hotels, island development, leisure venues, and airports. He stressed that his company recognizes the peace, security, and stability in Cambodia, which is why it chose the country as the starting point for its investment expansion into Southeast Asia.
In conclusion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Fahd Al Dosari for the trust placed in Cambodia’s peace and stability and for all proposed investment projects, particularly in tourism and infrastructure. He also extended his best wishes for the success of the AI Mansour Asia delegation during their visit.
