(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call from Elchin Amirbayov, the Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Special Assignments, along with his delegation, at the Peace Palace, on Monday (May 11).
During the significant meeting, both parties expressed a mutual commitment to further enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation.
Amirbayov conveyed that Azerbaijan considers Cambodia a vital partner and commended the progress in relations between the two nations, particularly the strengthening of ties between their legislative and executive bodies.
The Azerbaijani representative also shared Azerbaijan’s intention to explore new opportunities for cooperation across various sectors, particularly in the realms of economy and trade.
He extended a formal invitation from the President of Azerbaijan to Prime Minister Hun Manet to attend the upcoming Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan in 2026.
In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his satisfaction and appreciation for the advancements in Cambodia-Azerbaijan relations, highlighting that the deepening of this friendship presents a significant opportunity to enhance collaboration between the two countries.
He underscored the extensive potential for expanded cooperation across various promising sectors, which would be mutually beneficial for both nations and their peoples.
Both sides discussed the fortification and expansion of cooperation across key areas, including politics, economy, trade, energy, tourism, culture, education, and agriculture.
In conclusion, both parties also explored initiatives to strengthen private-sector ties, including organising business-to-business meetings and forums to identify investment opportunities and increase bilateral trade volumes.
