(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, received the credentials of Mesut Özcan, the newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Cambodia, at the Senate's Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh on Tuesday morning (May 19).
During the meeting, Ambassador Özcan expressed his commitment to enhancing relations between Türkiye and Cambodia throughout his tenure. He underscored the importance of fostering bilateral cooperation and collaboration.
According to Senate Spokesperson Chea Thyrith, during the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, representing King Norodom Sihamoni, conveyed his congratulations to the newly appointed Turkish ambassador to Cambodia. He welcomed the ambassador's swift arrival in Cambodia, which he believes underscores Türkiye's commitment to fostering strong bilateral relations.
The ambassador expressed his honour to meet Samdech Techo and affirmed his dedication to advancing the relationship between the two nations. He highlighted the need to deepen cooperation across sectors.
Samdech Techo expressed gratitude for the ambassador's commitment to promoting Cambodia-Türkiye relations. He acknowledged the positive developments in the bilateral relationship, which have been notable in both executive and legislative dimensions.
Furthermore, he reflected on the historical context of the two countries' engagement, including the establishment of direct air links and the presence of diplomatic missions in each other's countries, which demonstrate the mutual value placed on this partnership.
