(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, received the credentials of Franck E. W. Adjagba, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Benin to Cambodia, at the Senate's Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh on Tuesday morning (May 19).

According to Senate Spokesperson Chea Thyrith, Samdech Techo Hun Sen extended warm congratulations to Ambassador Adjagba on behalf of King Norodom Sihamoni and expressed optimism that the ambassador’s tenure would help strengthen and expand bilateral relations between Cambodia and Benin.

Samdech Techo also voiced confidence that diplomatic cooperation between the two countries would continue to deepen during the ambassador’s mission in Cambodia.

For his part, Ambassador Adjagba thanked the Cambodian leadership for the opportunity to present his credentials and highlighted the longstanding friendship between Cambodia and Benin.

During the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen recalled his visit to Benin in 1983 while serving as Cambodia’s Foreign Minister, noting that he received a warm welcome despite the difficult circumstances Cambodia faced at the time under international sanctions.

Samdech Techo further extended an invitation to the President of Benin to visit Cambodia, particularly ahead of the upcoming Francophonie Summit scheduled for November. He expressed hope that such a visit would further strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

In conclusion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen wished the new ambassador success in his diplomatic mission in Cambodia.
