(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet directed the Ministry of Health to enhance preventive and containment measures in anticipation of potential Ebola and Hantavirus outbreaks.

He spoke during a Cabinet meeting on Friday morning (May 22).

The prime minister emphasised the importance of close collaboration among relevant ministries and institutions, alongside the Ministry of Health, to strengthen monitoring efforts and raise public awareness of these health concerns.

He noted that while Cambodia has reported no cases of these diseases to date, preparedness and responsiveness are essential.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Hun Manet called for continued public education through informative video campaigns to foster cooperation in health initiatives. Prioritising ambulances and complying with authorities' directives are key to our shared commitment to public safety.

In addition, the prime minister urged relevant ministries, particularly the Ministries of Women's Affairs and Culture and Fine Arts, to implement technical and educational strategies to preserve social morality. This initiative includes addressing the challenges posed by inappropriate content creators on social media platforms. Authorities should facilitate public involvement and reporting to tackle these issues effectively.

This forward-thinking strategy shows the government's dedication to protecting people's health and upholding community standards.
