(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, called on the Royal Government to accelerate land title registration for citizens, citing growing public frustration over prolonged delays, including in Phnom Penh.

Speaking on Sunday (May 24) during a meeting with leaders of ministries, institutions, and local councils across Phnom Penh, he highlighted the difficulties many citizens continue to face in obtaining land ownership titles.

To mitigate these challenges, Samdech Techo urged Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, along with Say Sam Al, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, to maintain a concerted effort in accelerating land title issuance for citizens.

In addition, Samdech Techo also proposed classifying land title registration as an essential public service to further streamline procedures and improve efficiency.

At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen praised the Royal Government and the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction for their significant progress in recent years.

He noted that at the start of the government’s seventh mandate, around four million land titles remained unissued, but more than three million have since been distributed to citizens over the past two years.
