(Phnom Penh): The General Department of Immigration (GDI) of Cambodia dismissed false information circulating on WeChat that claimed the Kingdom had suspended air entry routes and introduced strict new visa restrictions for foreign nationals.

The misinformation, which surfaced on 25 May 2026, alleged that Phnom Penh's international airport had halted all arrivals and that land border checkpoints would implement tighter controls from May 26. The post also falsely claimed that all foreigners under the age of 40 would be barred from entering Cambodia, regardless of their visa status or business credentials.

The GDI categorically rejected the claims, stating that immigration authorities have received no orders to restrict entry for individuals under 40 or to impose any such measures.

Authorities clarified that current government policies are focused on strengthening security and preventing illegal immigration while ensuring the smooth management of foreign nationals entering the country.

The department reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to welcoming tourists, investors, businesspeople, traders, and expatriate workers. It stressed that all international air and land entry points remain fully operational, with no disruptions to travel in or out of the kingdom.

In addition, the Royal Government has announced a trial visa exemption program for Chinese citizens travelling from China. Under the scheme, visitors will be allowed to stay in Cambodia for up to 14 days without a visa between 15 June and 15 October 2026.
