(Tboung Khmum): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced plans to reduce Cambodia’s reliance on imported milk, instant noodles, and sugar by strengthening domestic manufacturing and processing capabilities.
Speaking on Wednesday (May 27) in Tboung Khmum Province, the prime minister instructed relevant ministries to identify products that can be produced locally, creating greater opportunities for consumers to support Cambodian-made goods.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored that improving product quality, technical standards, and food safety will be crucial to the success of the import-substitution strategy.
To support the initiative, the government has introduced incentives aimed at attracting investment and expanding production capacity among local enterprises, ensuring sufficient domestic supply to meet consumer demand.
On the occasion, the prime minister said the policy is designed to strengthen economic self-sufficiency, enhance national resilience, and build greater confidence in locally produced goods.
