(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged Cambodians to participate more actively in sports and urged local authorities to expand and improve public infrastructure that supports physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
The premier spoke on Wednesday (June 3) during the inauguration of new achievements at the National Institute of Physical Education and Sport in Phnom Penh.
“I encourage greater efforts to promote sports participation among citizens, while authorities should ensure that adequate infrastructure is in place,” he said.
On the occasion, the prime minister noted the growing interest in sports and exercise among the public, highlighting the increasing number of parks and recreational spaces being developed across the country. He also commended local authorities for their commitment to expanding access to such facilities.
He further highlighted that regular physical activity plays a vital role in improving public health, preventing disease, and reducing healthcare burdens on individuals and families.
