(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to infrastructure development, stressing that road construction and development projects in the Knong Psar area will continue despite ongoing border tensions.
The premier spoke on Wednesday (Jun. 3) during an inauguration ceremony of new achievements at the National Institute of Physical Education and Sport in Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei highlighted significant improvements in the Knong Psar area, including infrastructure development, the establishment of a community market, and the creation of green recreational spaces. He also underlined the need to prepare natural-style rest areas and enhance water access systems for tourists ascending Knong Psar mountain, ensuring they have access to essential facilities.
The prime minister urged tourists and local residents alike to help preserve the area's natural beauty by disposing of waste responsibly and avoiding littering.
“Even in times of conflict, development will not stop,” he stated. “Construction of the road linking Aoral district to Koh Kong province is already underway. Once paved, the route will significantly improve connectivity between Kampong Speu and Koh Kong through Te Teuk Pus and the Aoral mountain area.”
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei praised the successful development of the Knong Psar mountain eco-tourism area in Kampong Speu province, awarding the project an “A++” rating after personally assessing its progress and achievements on the ground.
He also commended the joint efforts of the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Environment, Kampong Speu provincial authorities, and local communities in transforming the area into a model eco-tourism destination.
