(Phnom Penh): A charity walking event titled “2,700 Steps for Cambodian Infants and Children” raised 2.1 billion riel (approximately USD 520,000) to support Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation (CKF), according to Aun Pornmoniroth, Minister of Economy and Finance and also Chairman of the CKF Board of Trustees.

Held on Thursday (Jun. 4) at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, the event gathered around 1,600 participants, including government officials, private-sector representatives, and members of the public.

Aun Pornmoniroth said the initiative aimed to strengthen solidarity through sports and humanitarian action while promoting the spirit of “Khmer helping Khmer” and supporting the foundation’s 2026 “10,000 Riel, 10,000 People” campaign.

According to CKF Executive Director Chan Narith, more than 10,000 donors contributed during the event, while the broader 2026 campaign had already raised approximately USD 3.5 million from over 70,000 donors as of June 4.

The foundation supports the operation of Kantha Bopha hospitals, which provide free medical treatment to more than one million Cambodian infants and children each year.
