(Hanoi): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet paid a courtesy call on and held working discussions with Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, on Monday afternoon (Jun. 8), during his official visit to Viet Nam and participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) in Hanoi.

Chairman Tran Thanh Man praised Cambodia’s rapid socio-economic progress and expressed confidence that the country would achieve further success under Prime Minister Hun Manet’s leadership. He reaffirmed Viet Nam’s commitment to implementing agreements reached by the top leaders of both countries and strengthening bilateral cooperation across sectors.

The Vietnamese leader also welcomed the growing ties between the legislative bodies of Cambodia and Viet Nam, emphasizing continued cooperation within bilateral and international parliamentary frameworks.

For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet congratulated Viet Nam on its impressive socio-economic achievements and voiced confidence that the country would meet its long-term development goals for 2030 and 2045 under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the Vietnamese Government.

In addition, the prime minister also highlighted the strong cooperation between the legislative institutions of both countries through high-level exchanges and regular meetings in regional and international forums, noting that such engagements have further strengthened bilateral ties.

During the discussions, both sides explored ways to expand cooperation in key areas, including economy, trade, investment, politics, security, defence, education, vocational training, tourism, culture, and infrastructure connectivity.

Particular attention was given to linking the Phnom Penh–Bavet Expressway with the Ho Chi Minh City–Moc Bai Expressway, improving waterway transport connectivity, and increasing direct flight routes between the two nations.

Before concluding the meeting, both leaders agreed that Cambodia and Viet Nam continue to hold vast potential to complement each other in advancing economic and trade development for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
