(Phnom Penh): Cambodia and China reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening agricultural cooperation and expanding agricultural trade to increase exports of Cambodia’s potential agricultural products to the Chinese market.

Dith Tina, Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, held a farewell meeting on Thursday (Jun. 12) with Zhong Jie, the outgoing Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Chinese Embassy, to mark the end of her diplomatic mission. The meeting also welcomed Xue Dong, the newly appointed Counsellor.

The discussions focused on strengthening and expanding cooperation in trade, investment and infrastructure development, particularly in the agricultural sector.

Both parties underscored the importance of increasing agricultural trade, promoting Cambodian agricultural products in China, developing human resources and advancing the establishment of the National Agricultural Laboratory of Setbo (NALS), which serves many benefits in the agricultural sector.

Xue Dong expressed his pleasure at assuming his new role and reaffirmed his commitment to further promoting economic and agricultural trade cooperation between the two countries.

He also pledged to encourage greater agricultural investment and maintain close collaboration with relevant Cambodian institutions to achieve stronger results and greater mutual benefits for both nations.
