(Phnom Penh): Cambodia welcomed the agreement reached between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran aimed at consolidating the ceasefire, reducing tensions, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia issued on 19 June 2026.

According to the Spokesperson, Cambodia has consistently supported the peaceful settlement of disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual respect. Cambodia commends the efforts of those involved in facilitating the process that have led to significant achievements and hopes that the agreement will be implemented in good faith and lead to a durable and sustainable peace.

Cambodia believes that peace, stability, and freedom of navigation in the Middle East are essential for regional and global security, economic growth, and international trade, and common prosperity, the statement added. The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would help restore confidence in global supply chains and contribute to stability in international energy markets.

Cambodia encourages all parties to build on this positive momentum through sustained dialogue and constructive engagement aimed at fostering lasting peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond, the statement concluded.
