(Phnom Penh): Russian vehicle manufacturer GAZ Group expressed strong interest in investing in Cambodia’s automotive sector, citing the kingdom’s robust economic growth and strategic position within the ASEAN market.

The interest was conveyed during a meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Leonid Dolgov, Export Director of GAZ Group, on the sidelines of the ASEAN–Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan, Russia, on 18 June 2026.

During the meeting, Dolgov provided an overview of the company’s operations, noting that GAZ Group has nearly 90 years of experience in the automotive industry. The company operates 15 manufacturing plants, exports to 43 countries, and maintains a global network of 240 distributors. GAZ Group manufactures a broad range of products, including commercial vehicles, medium-duty trucks, buses, emergency vehicles, as well as automotive components and spare parts.

For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed the company’s interest and highlighted the Royal Government’s investor-friendly policies and support mechanisms aimed at facilitating business success in Cambodia.

The premier also encouraged GAZ Group to examine opportunities in supply chain manufacturing to strengthen its regional production network under the “Plus One Strategy.”
