(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed strong satisfaction with the continued and progressive development of Cambodia-Russia relations and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the positive momentum and further advancing bilateral ties, according to Jean François Tain, Minister Delegate Attached to the Prime Minister.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday (Jun. 19) on the outcomes of Prime Minister Hun Manet’s participation in the 35th ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan, Russia, Jean François Tan said the two leaders focused on three priority areas: political and diplomatic cooperation; trade, agriculture and energy; and people-to-people connectivity.
Prime Minister Hun Manet also called on Russia to expand and strengthen investment in Cambodia and proposed exploring the feasibility of a Cambodia-Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) free trade agreement to further strengthen trade and economic relations between the two sides. The EAEU comprises Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
Samdech Thipadei further called for continued cooperation in energy, agriculture, education, tourism and healthcare.
