(Siem Reap): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet decided to maintain the increased tourism revenue share for boat operators in Siem Reap’s Chong Khneas village, even if fuel prices fall in the future, to help improve local livelihoods.

In a message posted on his social media on Sunday (Jun. 21), Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said during his visit to Chong Khneas on 20 June 2026, he met with representatives of the Chong Khneas boat operator community and heard concerns about revenue distribution between Angkor Enterprise and the community. The government had previously increased the community’s share to offset rising fuel costs linked to Middle East tensions.

Following discussions with Angkor Enterprise, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet agreed in principle to keep the higher revenue-sharing arrangement permanently. He also urged community members to remain united and continue providing quality, transparent services to strengthen tourist confidence and support sustainable tourism development.
