(Phnom Penh): Newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Cambodia Mesut Özcan pledged to further strengthen and expand bilateral relations and cooperation between Türkiye and Cambodia.
The commitment was made during a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace on Monday morning (Jun. 22).
During the meeting, Ambassador Özcan expressed his honour at being appointed to the post and praised the steady progress of ties between the two countries. He also thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia and relevant institutions for their support and cooperation.
In this regard, the ambassador reaffirmed his determination to further promote, strengthen, and expand bilateral ties and cooperation, making them more dynamic, comprehensive, and substantive across various sectors throughout his diplomatic mission in Cambodia.
For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet congratulated Ambassador Özcan on his appointment and expressed satisfaction with the positive development of bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as the growing partnership between Cambodia and Türkiye.
The Cambodian premier voiced strong confidence that under Ambassador Özcan’s tenure, relations and cooperation between the two countries would become even stronger, deeper, and more productive.
Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, security and defence, education, tourism, and environmental protection.
The prime minister also encouraged Ambassador Özcan to maintain close engagement with Cambodian ministries and institutions to further advance relations between the two countries.
