(Vientianne): Cambodia and Laos officially launched a new transit transportation route for Cambodian agricultural exports to China.
The launch ceremony was held in Vientiane on Sunday (Jun. 22) and attended by representatives from 30 Cambodian private-sector companies.
The achievement follows extensive negotiations and collaboration between Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Laos’ Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. The agreement opens a new transport corridor and simplifies transit procedures for six Cambodian agricultural products destined for the Chinese market.
The approved products include bananas, mangoes, rice, Pailin longan, cassava starch, and durians.
The new route is expected to improve export efficiency, reduce logistical barriers, and create greater market opportunities for Cambodian farmers and agribusinesses, particularly as demand for Cambodian durians continues to grow in China. The initiative will also help strengthen agricultural trade ties and enhance the global competitiveness of Cambodian produce.
