(Phnom Penh): Russian Ambassador Anatoly Borovik said the meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the Russia–ASEAN Summit in Kazan on 17–18 June 2026, marked a new chapter in Cambodia–Russia relations.
Speaking at a press conference on June 25, the ambassador noted that the meeting was the first between the two leaders in eight years and coincided with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
He said both leaders agreed to expand cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, energy, and historical heritage, while Russia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties through the Intergovernmental Commission and other mechanisms.
Ambassador Anatoly Borovik added that the summit adopted four key documents, including the Kazan Declaration and the Russia–ASEAN Action Plan, to deepen cooperation in politics, economics, culture, and energy.
