(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet directed relevant ministries and institutions to streamline business registration, licensing and product inspection procedures, saying unnecessary regulations should be removed to improve the business environment while strengthening consumer protection.
Speaking on Saturday (Jun. 27) during a meeting with Cambodia’s small, medium and handicraft enterprises, the premier said legal provisions that hinder business operations should be revised or eliminated to make compliance more efficient.
“These reforms benefit both businesses and consumers. They help businesses operate more efficiently, while ensuring consumers have access to quality products. Clear procedures also enable officials to perform their duties without overlapping mandates,” he said.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also instructed the Ministry of Health to strengthen oversight of cosmetic products, particularly skin-whitening creams and lotions, by enhancing inspections and providing clearer guidance on their safe use.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei further called on relevant ministries to remove unnecessary requirements while reinforcing essential regulations, emphasizing the need for faster, more transparent and higher-quality administrative procedures to strengthen public confidence and support economic growth.
