(Phnom Penh): The Ministry of External Affairs of India, represented by the Embassy of India in Cambodia, and the Ministry of Information of Cambodia on 10 July 2026 signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for the implementation of two Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation framework. The two projects aim to directly benefit rural communities in Ou Krieng Senchey District, Kratie Province.

The MoUs were signed by Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information of Cambodia and Ambassador of India Vanlalvawna Bawitlung.

The Climate-Smart Apiculture for Smallholder Farmers project will provide vocational training, inputs, and equipment to 30 smallholder farmers (with priority to women and youth), establish 10 demonstration beekeeping farms, and promote climate-resilient practices to increase household incomes by at least 30 per cent through honey and other bee products.

The Community Support for Schooling – Phase 2 project will provide bicycles, safety helmets, and eco-bottles to 200 disadvantaged Grade 5 and Grade 6 students facing long commutes, building on Phase 1 to improve school attendance, reduce dropouts, enhance safety, and promote environmental awareness.

Cambodia remains a valued partner under India’s Act East Policy and the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation framework. India implements 10 Quick Impact Projects annually in Cambodia across priority sectors including education, health, women’s empowerment, sanitation, agriculture, and climate resilience.

To date, 72 QIPs have been approved, with 55 successfully completed and 17 currently under implementation, all aligned with priorities identified by the Royal Government of Cambodia. These new initiatives underscore the strong and growing development partnership between India and Cambodia, focused on grassroots impact, human development, and sustainable livelihoods.
