(Phnom Penh): Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni extended his deepest condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping and the people of China following devastating floods, torrential rains, and landslides that have caused significant casualties and widespread destruction across several regions of the country, according to a letter seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (Jul. 14).
In the royal message, the king said he was deeply saddened to learn of the devastating floods, torrential rains, and landslides that have struck several regions of the People's Republic of China, causing tragic loss of life, numerous injuries, widespread displacement and extensive damage to homes and infrastructure.”
“Her Majesty Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk joins me in expressing our profound sadness and in conveying to Your Excellency and through Your Excellency to the people of the People's Republic of China, our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, those who have been injured, those who remain missing and all those facing the hardship and suffering of this devastating natural disaster,” the king added.
King Sihamoni also expressed confidence that, under President Xi's wise leadership, the Communist Party, the State Council and the People's Liberation Army, the Chinese people will overcome this difficult time, and that the recovery and reconstruction efforts will restore hope and normalcy to the affected communities.
