(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Chinese Evolution Researchers Association President Chea Munyrith expressed confidence that Prime Minister Hun Manet's upcoming working visit to China will deliver positive outcomes for Cambodia, particularly in investment, trade, tourism, and artificial intelligence (AI) cooperation.

His remarks came after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced that Prime Minister Hun Manet will lead a high-level delegation on a working visit to China from 15 to 17 July 2026, at the invitation of the Chinese government.

During the visit, the prime minister is scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai on 17 July, held under the theme "Partnership in Artificial Intelligence for a Brighter Future."

Chea Munyrith said meetings with Chinese leaders, business executives, and investors are expected to strengthen bilateral relations, deepen multilateral cooperation, and boost confidence among Chinese businesses to expand investment in Cambodia.

He added that the visit could also help increase Chinese tourist arrivals, supported by existing visa-free arrangements between the two countries.

According to Chea Munyrith, the visit will further advance the implementation of the Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era, promoting cooperation in security, trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, and human resource development under frameworks such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Diamond Hexagon Cooperation Framework.

He also described Hun Manet's participation in the AI conference as an important opportunity for Cambodia to strengthen cooperation in digital technology, artificial intelligence, innovation, and advanced industries through technology transfer, skills development, and investment.

"I believe this visit will further strengthen the friendship and strategic partnership between Cambodia and China while creating new opportunities in investment, trade, tourism, and technological cooperation to support sustainable development and shared prosperity for both countries," Chea Munyrith said.
