(Beijing): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties during talks held in Beijing on Thursday (Jul. 16), with both leaders pledging to expand cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

The meeting took place during Prime Minister Hun Manet's working visit to China, where he also attended the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) from 15-17 July.

During the meeting, Premier Li welcomed Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and underscored the strong momentum of Cambodia-China relations, citing frequent high-level exchanges and close cooperation across various fields.

Hei said China and Cambodia share a close relationship as "ironclad friends." He affirmed that China remains committed to supporting Cambodia's modernization efforts while working together to address growing global uncertainties. He also reaffirmed that Cambodia continues to hold a priority place in China's foreign policy.

For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Chinese government and people and highly praised the steady progress of bilateral relations.

He reaffirmed that Cambodia and China remain comprehensive strategic partners and "ironclad friends," committed to building the Cambodia-China All-Weather Community with a Shared Future in the New Era.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reaffirmed Cambodia's unwavering commitment to the One-China Policy, stressing that Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xizang (Tibet), and Xinjiang are internal affairs of China.

During the talks, the two leaders exchanged views on ways to deepen cooperation in politics and diplomacy, trade and investment, infrastructure connectivity, green energy, agriculture, national defense and security, as well as people-to-people exchanges, particularly in tourism and education.

Before concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Hun Manet briefed Premier Li on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.

He reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment and firm position to resolving border issues peacefully in accordance with international law and the existing conventions, treaties, and agreements between Cambodia and Thailand.
