(Shanghai): Cambodia became one of the founding signatories to the Agreement on the Establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO), marking a significant step in the country's engagement in global artificial intelligence governance.

Representing Cambodia, Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, signed the agreement during a ceremony attended by representatives from 29 countries on Thursday (Jul. 16).

The signing was witnessed by senior officials from various international organizations, including United Nations Secretary General António Guterres.

The World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) was established to deepen international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, break down barriers to the flow of production factors by creating a supply-demand matching platform, and promote practical AI cooperation among countries. Its work primarily revolves around three major goals: deepening innovation cooperation, promoting inclusive development, and strengthening collaborative governance.
