(Phnom Penh): China reaffirmed its support for Cambodia's Funan Techo Canal and other priority infrastructure projects following Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet’s working visit to China from 15-17 July 2026, according to Jean-François Tan, Minister Delegate Attached to the Prime Minister.

Speaking at a press conference on the outcomes of the prime minister’s visit on Friday (Jul. 17), Jean-François Tan said discussions between Prime Minister Hun Manet, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Chinese Premier Li Qiang reinforced the two countries' commitment to expanding their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The two countries also agreed to strengthen their "ironclad friendship," upgrade their 2+2 Strategic Dialogue to a 3+3 mechanism, expand cooperation against online scams, and enhance trade, including greater market access for Cambodian agricultural products.

Jean-François Tan said the visit reflected both countries' shared commitment to strengthening their longstanding partnership and expanding practical cooperation across infrastructure, security, trade, and development.
