(Phnom Penh): Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with China to combat and eliminate online scam operations, according to Jean-François Tan, Minister Delegate Attached to the Prime Minister.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday (Jul. 17) following Prime Minister Hun Manet's official working visit to China, Jean-François Tan said the prime minister reiterated the Royal Government's commitment during meetings with Chinese leaders.

Beyond tackling online scams, both sides agreed to deepen political mutual trust through closer bilateral cooperation, he added.

As part of this effort, Cambodia and China agreed to upgrade their existing 2+2 Strategic Dialogue, which involves the foreign and defence ministers of both countries, into a 3+3 Strategic Dialogue by adding Cambodia's Minister of Interior and China's Minister of Public Security.

Jean-François Tan said both countries welcomed the continued progress of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties by reinforcing their ironclad friendship, advancing the Diamond Hexagon Cooperation Framework, and building an all-weather Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era.

China also reaffirmed that Cambodia remains a priority in its foreign policy, while Cambodia reiterated its unwavering commitment to the One-China Principle.
