(Beijing): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across a range of sectors during talks held on the sidelines of the 2026 World AI Conference in China on 17 July 2026.
During the meeting, President Tokayev expressed his pleasure at meeting Samdech Thipadei and expressed keen interest in Cambodia's rich and diverse tourism potential. He also conveyed Kazakhstan's desire to deepen bilateral ties and invited the Cambodian prime minister to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan at a mutually convenient time.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highly praised the longstanding friendship between the two countries, noting that 2026 marks the 32nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Kazakhstan.
Samdech Thipadei also welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Establishment of a Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between the two countries' foreign ministries, along with an Agreement on Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports. He said the two agreements would facilitate official exchanges and high-level visits while creating new momentum for bilateral cooperation.
On the occasion, the two leaders discussed opportunities to broaden cooperation in key areas, including trade, food security, energy security, artificial intelligence, information technology, and agriculture.
They also exchanged views on enhancing collaboration within multilateral frameworks, including the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
