(China): Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) will sign aMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Strategic Cooperation in Civil Aviation with Cambodia's State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA).
COMAC Chairman Shen Bo announced during his courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Friday (Jul. 17) on the sidelines of the 2026 World AI Conference.
During the meeting, Shen briefed the prime minister on COMAC's operations and its growing cooperation with Cambodian partners. He noted that the company develops and manufactures commercial aircraft, including the C919 and C909, and has expanded its cooperation with Cambodia beyond aircraft sales to include maintenance services and training for civil aviation personnel and officials.
According to Shen, the MoU will strengthen cooperation in technology transfer, human resource development, airport development and maintenance, and technical support.
He added that the partnership is expected to enhance the operational capacity of Air Cambodia, improve air connectivity, and strengthen Cambodia's competitiveness in the regional aviation sector.
For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet congratulated COMAC on its successful operations in Cambodia, particularly its partnership with Air Cambodia, and welcomed the company's long-term commitment to supporting the kingdom's civil aviation industry.
He expressed support for COMAC's strategic cooperation with the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation and Air Cambodia, especially in human resource development, saying the initiatives would contribute to the modernisation and international competitiveness of Cambodia's aviation sector.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei also reaffirmed the Royal Government's commitment to facilitating close coordination between COMAC and relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions, particularly the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.
COMAC is a major Chinese commercial aircraft manufacturer founded in 2008. Currently, the company produces two commercial aircraft, including the COMAC C909 (ARJ21), a regional jet accommodating 78 to 90 passengers, and the COMAC C919, a narrow-body airliner accommodating 158 to 192 passengers. COMAC is also developing the COMAC C929, a wide-body, long-haul aircraft designed to carry 282 to 440 passengers. It has a range of up to 12,000 km and is scheduled to make its first flight in 2030.
