(China): ZTE Corporation, one of China's leading telecommunications technology companies, expressed its intention to expand its investment in Cambodia's telecommunications and digital technology sectors, including the development of the country's Sovereign AI Foundation Model and National AI Infrastructure and Ecosystem.

The announcement was made during a meeting on Friday (July 17) between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Xiao Ming, a representative of ZTE Corporation, on the sidelines of the prime minister's working visit to China.

During the meeting, Xiao briefed Prime Minister Hun Manet on ZTE's global operations, noting that the company provides telecommunications equipment and information and communications technology (ICT) solutions in more than 160 countries and regions. He added that ZTE is the world's second-largest supplier of 5G infrastructure.

Xiao said ZTE has operated in Cambodia for more than two decades and plans to deepen its investment as a provider of telecommunications network infrastructure and ICT solutions.

He added that the company intends to support the development of Cambodia's Sovereign AI Foundation Model and National AI Infrastructure and Ecosystem. Over the years, ZTE has also contributed to expanding rural telecommunications connectivity, deploying fibre-optic networks, and providing fixed broadband and high-speed mobile internet services across the country.

For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet highly commended ZTE's achievements and its significant contribution to the development of Cambodia's telecommunications sector. He welcomed the company's plans to further expand its investment in the kingdom.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed that technology remains one of the Royal Government's strategic priorities, underscoring its role in accelerating Cambodia's digital transformation and supporting long-term socio-economic development.

He also highlighted the government's efforts to strengthen ICT human resource development by promoting education and training in technology, innovation, and digital skills.
