(China): Shanghai Hantang Shipping (SHS) Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese company in the shipbuilding and logistics industry, expressed its interest in exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia's logistics sector, citing the kingdom's improving transport connectivity and growing economic potential.
SHS Chairman Fan Jinsheng paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on 17 July 2026 on the sidelines of the 2026 World AI Conference.
During the meeting, Fan briefed Hun Manet on the company's operations, noting that Shanghai-based SHS specialises in ocean freight, ship design and construction, and integrated logistics solutions.
He said Cambodia's expanding transport infrastructure presents strong investment opportunities for the company and congratulated the country on the development of the Funan Techo Canal, describing the project as a catalyst for future investment, particularly in logistics and maritime transport.
For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed the company's interest in investing in Cambodia's logistics industry. He emphasized that logistics is a strategic sector to which the Royal Government attaches high priority, with continued efforts to strengthen the industry's competitiveness and support Cambodia's economic development.
The prime minister said the Funan Techo Canal is a landmark infrastructure project that will reshape Cambodia's economic landscape by linking inland waterways with coastal areas. Beyond the canal itself, he said, the project is designed to create a modern and intelligent economic corridor.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet encouraged SHS to continue engaging with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to explore concrete investment opportunities in the kingdom.
