(Phnom Penh): India reaffirmed its full support for Cambodia's upcoming International Conference on Combating Online Scams, underscoring closer bilateral cooperation in tackling cybercrime.

The commitment was made during a meeting between Senior Minister Chhay Sinarith, Head of the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS), and Indian Ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung on Wednesday (Jul. 22).

Chhay Sinarith praised the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and India and highlighted the importance of strengthening information sharing, training, and capacity building between India's Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) and the CCOS.

He also briefed the ambassador on Cambodia's preparations to host the international conference in Phnom Penh from 23–24 September 2026 and invited India to participate by sharing its experience in combating online scams.

In response, Ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung commended the Cambodian government's proactive measures against online scams and its commitment to protecting victims.

He reaffirmed India's full support for the conference and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation through timely information exchange and enhanced training for specialised officials to strengthen efforts against online scam operations.
