(Phnom Penh): Cambodia and the United States (US) explored ways to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation during the 4th Cambodia–US Defence Policy Dialogue (DPD) held in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday (Jul. 22).

Lieutenant General Rath Dararoth, Secretary of State at Cambodia's Ministry of National Defence, led a Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) delegation to the dialogue, where they were welcomed by Lori D. Abele, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia, and other US officials.

During the meeting, both sides held constructive discussions and exchanged views on further strengthening Cambodia-US bilateral defence cooperation in several key areas, including joint military exercises, human resource development, professional military education and training, as well as other areas of mutual cooperation.

The Cambodian delegation also briefed the US side on the latest developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border and expressed appreciation for the United States’ continued support and constructive engagement on the border issue.
