(Phnom Penh): Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ASEAN's dialogue partnerships by advocating deeper cooperation in trade, investment, digital transformation, infrastructure, and regional security during the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference (PMC)+1 Sessions with Dialogue Partners in Manila, according to a press release on the outcomes of the meeting seen by Fresh News on Friday (Jul. 24).

At the ASEAN-US session, Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn highlighted that the longstanding presence of American companies has been instrumental to ASEAN's growth and reflects decades of trust and confidence.

Building on this foundation, he called for closer ASEAN-US cooperation on trade, quality investment and infrastructure, resilient supply chains, energy security, and digital transformation and job creation.

He also welcomed the growing role of public-private partnerships, highlighting the US International Development Finance Corporation's (DFC) investment in Techo International Airport as a notable example, and encouraged further projects of this kind in infrastructure and energy across the region.

On transnational crime, he called for stronger cooperation to address this shared challenge and informed the Meeting that Cambodia would host an International Conference on Combating Online Scams later this year

Throughout the sessions with global partners including Australia, Canada, China, the EU, India, Japan, New Zealand, the ROK, Russia, and the UK, Cambodia consistently promotes stronger regional connectivity, sustainable economic development, innovation, and human capital development as key drivers of ASEAN's future growth.
