(Phnom Penh): Cambodia called for enhanced regional and international cooperation to combat increasingly sophisticated transnational crime networks during the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with Dialogue Partners, according to a press release on the outcomes of the meetings seen by Fresh News on Friday (Jul. 24).

During discussions with the United States and the Republic of Korea, Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn underscored that online scams, cyber-enabled crimes, and cross-border criminal activities have become shared regional challenges requiring collective responses. He called for closer cooperation in law enforcement, intelligence-sharing, capacity-building, and joint efforts to combat organised crime networks.

Cambodia also informed participating ministers that it will host an International Conference on Combating Online Scams later this year, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening regional collaboration in the fight against cybercrime.

The initiative reflects Cambodia’s broader efforts to enhance regional security and support ASEAN’s rules-based approach to addressing emerging transnational security threats.
