(Phnom Penh): Cambodian cyclist Tiv Dararith has completed a two-year cycling mission across three continents, covering nearly 58,000 kilometres through 40 countries to raise funds for Cambodian children.

Speaking at a press conference marking the end of his journey, Dararith said the same bicycle carried him throughout the expedition, serving as both his transportation and constant companion.

The journey took him across Asia, Europe and Africa, with the bicycle carrying more than 70 kilograms of gear while navigating challenging terrain and harsh conditions.

Despite numerous obstacles, Dararith said he never gave up on his mission to cycle across continents in support of Cambodian children.

"I rode this one bicycle throughout the journey. No matter how badly it broke down, I was always able to repair it and continue moving forward. This bicycle has become part of Cambodia's history, having travelled through many countries," he said.

He added that the bicycle will be placed on public display to commemorate the nearly 60,000-kilometre journey.

Information Minister Neth Pheaktra led a press conference on Monday (Jul. 27) to mark the completion of the campaign, which raised more than USDF 260,000 for Cambodia's Kantha Bopha Foundation.

Dararith launched the "Cycling for Cambodian Children" mission on 6 June 2024, departing from Angkor Hospital for Children. He cycled across Asia, Europe and Africa, travelling through 40 countries before officially concluding the mission on 3 June 2026.
